The film
Problem
A product film fails when the name on the can is wrong. Video models redraw lettering. The early tests turned the night blue, grew plants around the can, and opened it with a pull tab that spun like a bottle cap.
Role
I designed the can: matte black, cracked silver frost, a red circular raven, and the silver words GLACE NOIRE. I directed the clip in Google Flow with that artwork as the reference, and I chose the take.
What the film does
A pale hand with real skin and glossy black nails presses the raven once, like a button. Cold smoke pours out. The lid stays on the can. The raven and the name stay readable.
Decisions worth defending
- The printed front stays in frame. Hiding the logo would have made a cleaner generation and a worse film. The name is the point of the can.
- The spinning tab was rejected. The emblem is the button. The lid does not come off.
- This is an uncommissioned spec for a fictional studio brand. It is not a client advertisement, and no existing drink brand is endorsed. The footage is generated. It is not footage I filmed.
